Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.Day

"If you want to say that I was a drum major, say that I was a drum major for justice.  Say that I was a drum major for peace. I was a drum major for righteousness."

- Martin Luther King Jr. in a sermon in 1968

Although some decades have gone by since the passing of Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. His message is still relevant today.

As we reflect on Dr. King's values and beliefs inherent in his teachings and contemplate on the implications for health care today, we must  eliminate health care disparities and promote equity.

In King's message he spoke of peace, love, justice, accountability, righteousness, and humility.  Let us as leaders, in the profession of nursing, see how we can take the messages that Dr. King stood for  and  make it stand to make a difference in the progress of our personal and professional lives.  Let us as nurses continue to speak for and represent vulnerable populations as we remember the late Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.
