Posted almost 8 years ago by Dr. Karla Smith

Thank you gain to everyone who donated water/money for the community service project. Approximately 500 water bottles were donated! The church of Mt Zion assited in  distributing  the  water to the Sandbranch community. See details in the  previous announcement below. Pictures are posted in the NTNP photo gallery tab

With all the rain lately, our lakes are full. Unfortunately for the Sandbranch Community, they are not supplied with municple services. We need Your help to bring them bottled drinking water!

Don't forget to bring your water to the June Meeting or make a donation on the website!

When: June Meeting and until you are tired of donating or they receive running water!

Sandbranch, the small, unincorporated corner of Dallas County without drinkable water. Over the decades, the community has dwindled to less than 100 people scattered across nine blocks. But they have acclimated to the lack of resources — like a running faucet or trash pick-up — even though downtown Dallas is just 18 miles away. The last major move the local government made in Sandbranch was about a decade ago when 36 families living in a flood zone were relocated. (Adapted from http://keranews.org)
