SB 406 Has A Hearing Date

Posted about 11 years ago by Robert Metzger

I am here to announce that SB 406 – our agreed to bill that will improve APRN regulations in Texas – is scheduled for a hearing in the House Public Health Committee on April 24, 2013.  We are once again on our way.

I am sure many of you will want to take up arms, or more appropriately, your wallets and purses, and head to Austin to be a part of the show.  I encourage you to go to Austin if you are able; but if you can’t and still wish to follow this event you can do so by going to http://www.house.state.tx.us/video-audio/ . The committee hearing will begin at 8:00 am but we will not be lucky enough to have our bill heard that early.  However, at the end of the day, we are on the schedule and we can see a light at the end of the tunnel.

TNP will be providing updates throughout the evening through their notification system and by Twitter at @TNPAustin.  If you are not yet following TNP on Twitter, please do so for up to the minute information.  If you decide to go to Austin for the hearing, email David Williams at david@texasnp.org and he will put you to work during the day visiting legislators.

Representing TNP during this hearing will be TNP’s Vice-President, Lara Boyett.  Lara has been very active in our grassroots program for the past 3 years and has testified at legislative hearings on numerous occasions.  We are lucky to have someone like Lara who is extremely capable of putting facts into context and delivering a clear and compelling message.  Lara will do a fabulous job once again representing you in front of the House Public Health Committee. Wish us luck and see you at the Capitol! Robert Metzger, DNP, APRN, FNP-BCTexas Nurse Practitioners Dallas/Denton Representative
