The Case: RN discharges a newly diagnosed diabetic patient. Teaching completed by the diabetic education team the day before discharge. Patient readmitted to ER 22 hours later unresponsive. CNE: TNA, District 4 provides 6.0 CNE hours for successful completion of this educational activity. TNA, District 4 is an approved provider of continuing nursing education by the Texas Nurses Association - Approver, an accredited approver with distinction by the American Nurses Credentialing Center’s Commission on Accreditation. Program Objectives: At the completion of this offering, the Participant should be able to: 1) Identify how standards of care regulate nursing practice. 2) Identify criteria for establishing negligence in the practice of nursing. 3) State the necessity for complete and accurate charting. 4) Describe the legal implications of professional nursing practice. 5) Define basic legal terminology relevant to nurse negligence cases.
