HELP!!!!! All Denton County NP's (and anyone else residing in Denton County & really any/everyone)
PLEASE contact Myra Crownover, your Texas State Representative, who is the CHAIR of the Public Health Committee. She is the person in charge of what bills get heard or NOT. Apparently, she has received heavy pressure from ?? (TMA) to keep our bills from even being HEARD in committee. As her constituent, please contact her and respectfully request that she schedule HB 1885 and HB 1473 for a hearing AND that she sign on to support its passage.
Please feel free to use the below prepared message and send to BOTH of these email addresses: Rudy.england@house.state.tx.us myra.crownover@house.state.tx.us
Dear Chair Crownover,
Please schedule HB 1885 and HB 1473, both by Representative Cecil Bell, for hearing as soon as possible. These bills will greatly expand access to care into rural and underserved areas by removing the requirement that advanced practice registered nurses contract with individual physicians for the right to diagnose and prescribe – two acts that APRNS are educated and certified to do. APRNs provide high-quality, low-cost care that has been proved through 50 years of peer-reviewed medical research. In fact, the Federal Trade Commission recently urged state lawmakers to closely examine ALL available evidence and that the abundance of which points to APRN safety, effectiveness and efficiency including in those states without physician delegation and supervision requirements. The FTC also stated that, "FTC staff are not aware of ANY evidence linking safety or quality to physician supervision requirements'. Lastly, a number of studies have also shown that the cost of care provided by APRNs is up to 20% lower than that of physicians. This fact does not take into account the lower reimbursement rates nor the fact that the high-quality care provided by APRNs keeps patients out of the ER. As your constituent, I implore upon you to schedule these bills for hearing ASAP. Our practice and patients are depending on your leadership. Sincerely,
